Terms of Service
Rules and guidelines for using GitHobby and its widgets.
Last updated: August 2026
1. The GitHobby Service
GitHobby is a platform that allows you to design and configure web widgets, generate embed URLs, and save your creations. These URLs return SVG images or HTML that you can place in your GitHub profile README or other markdown-compatible environments.
GitHobby offers user accounts so you can save your widgets to a personal library. The core service is provided free of charge, subject to these terms.
2. User-Provided Configuration
When you configure a widget, you may enter text, identifiers (such as YouTube playlist URLs), and formatting preferences. You are entirely responsible for the values you place into widget configurations.
You agree that you have the right to use the content you configure and that your configuration does not infringe upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use GitHobby to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Distribute malicious content, hate speech, or explicit material.
- Abuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the service through automated requests or denial-of-service attacks.
- Misrepresent your affiliation with GitHobby, GitHub, or any third party.
4. Generated Widgets & Licensing
GitHobby's source code is provided under its respective repository license. We do not claim exclusive ownership over the specific widget URLs or SVG output you generate using our tool. However, you must not use GitHobby to generate output that violates these Terms or applicable laws.
5. Third-Party Services
GitHobby integrates with third-party services, such as the YouTube Data API, to provide certain widget functionalities. We do not control these external services. Third-party services may change their availability or terms at any time, which may cause associated GitHobby widgets to break or become unavailable.
All third-party trademarks, including those of GitHub and YouTube, remain the property of their respective owners. GitHobby is not affiliated with or endorsed by these third parties.
6. Service Availability & Changes
We provide GitHobby as a free public service. We reserve the right to change, update, or remove widgets, modify endpoint behavior, or temporarily (or permanently) suspend the service at any time without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
7. Warranty and Liability Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by applicable law, GitHobby is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Nisal Herath and any associated contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, GitHobby.
